Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conduct preliminary civil service exam every year for various post in Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of preliminary exam, main exam and personal interview round. This year UPSC IAS preliminary exam was conducted on June 18th 2017. Candidates those who will qualify the preliminary exam will be shortlisted for the main exam. The official UPSC IAS answer key will be published on the website upsc.gov.in. Candidates can check the official website regularly for the new notification regarding this.
The UPSC preliminary exam consists of two paper, paper I and paper 2. The questions are of objective types and multiple type questions.The UPSC civil service preliminary paper 1 is General studies and paper II is Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). The exam authority will first check the CSAT question paper and will then check the general studies paper of only those candidates who has passed in CSAT test. There is a negative marking in the preliminary exam. For every wrong answer, 1/3rd of marks will be deducted. Based on the performance of the candidates in these two paper, candidates will be shortlisted for the main exam.
After the exam, the first thing the candidates look for is the answer key so that they can match their answers. No official announcement has been made about the release date of the answer key yet by the UPSC. It will be published on their website www.upsc.gov.in. However few major private institute like Chanakya IAS academy will release their version of the answer key much sooner than that. The solutions provided in their answer key are by the coaching experts of the academy. Candidates can check their answer key and can calculate the possible results.
